NCCR Christmas Meeting in Lübeck: A Recap of Scientific Insights and Festive Atmosphere

This year's NCCR Christmas Meeting in Lübeck brought together PIs and scientists for our DZHK Standort north, an insightful and festive gathering. The event kicked off with an overview of the DZHK Heart Bank, offering a comprehensive valuable resources of biobank samples, associated clinical data, image data, as well as genomic data collected through clinical studies of the DZHK (https://dzhk.de/dzhk-heart-bank/).

The highlight of the meeting was an excellent keynote lecture by Prof. Minna Häkkinen Määttä on transcriptional genomics. The presentation delved into how GWAS CAD SNPs, in non-coding regions, impact and regulate atherosclerosis-related cell types' function at the transcriptional level, using state-of-the-art techniques such as MPRA, ScRNA, and spatial transcriptomics.

Among the young scientists, Redouane from our institute also showcased Lübeck's contributions to cutting-edge research. We thoroughly enjoyed your talk!

The day concluded with discussions at Restaurant Müggenbusch, creating a small Christmas atmosphere and serving drinks and delicious food. Despite the snowy weather, it was heartening to hear that everyone had a pleasant trip back home.
