Attending the 2nd Leducq AtheroGEN Network Meeting in Berlin without Jeanette

It has been almost 2.5 months since Jeanette's passing, and we have recently resumed our activities. Redouane (virtually), Tobias, Marlon, and I attended the second Leducq AtheroGEN Network Meeting in Berlin. We were grateful for the opportunity to share our data with others despite the somber atmosphere. I also had the opportunity to discuss our institute's current state and future directions following Jeanette's passing, sharing a few slides in her memory and observing a minute of silence in her honor. During the meeting, I shared ongoing projects and resources related to available coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction and other cohorts. Redouane presented data from his project on the role of sex differences in CAD, while Marlon discussed the use of iPSC to study sex differences and provided insights into our ongoing organoid projects.

We had a great time at the AtheroGEN Network presentations. Our fellow members shared some amazing insights on the latest advancements in atherosclerosis and genetics. One of the best parts of attending such events is getting to connect with other network members. We discussed ongoing projects, shared ideas, and even brainstormed potential collaborations with like-minded individuals. These interactions not only help build a sense of community but also ignite innovation.

During our time in Berlin, we engaged in discussions that covered diverse aspects of atherosclerosis research. From groundbreaking genetic discoveries to promising therapeutic approaches, the knowledge exchange was enriching. It highlighted the importance of collaborative networks in advancing scientific understanding and pushing research boundaries.

We look forward to future meetings and the continued exchange of ideas within the AtheroGEN network. We are confident that our collaborative efforts, inspired by Jeanette's vision and dedication, will drive us closer to innovative solutions in the fight against cardiovascular disease – one of the leading global health challenges.
