Master Prize Molecular Biology for Marlon

The junior group of the Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (jGBM) and Life Science Lübeck e.V. awarded the best master thesis and presentation 2019/2020 of the study programs Molecular Life Science and Infection Biology to Marlon from our Institute.
Marlon, is a Master's graduate of the Molecular Life Science study at our University. He was awarded the prize on June 19th 2020 for his work "Investigations of the dilated cardiomyopathy causal gene NEXN and its role in the cell cycle of mouse cardiomyocytes".

He wrote his master thesis at our Institute under my supervision (#proudPI 😀). His master's thesis focused on the gene NEXN and its role in dilated cardiomyopathy.

Due to the special situation in the corona pandemic, the event was held as an online conference under the motto "Show your thesis!
The four applicants gave a ten-minute presentation on their work and then answered the questions of the jury. The jury consisted of a selected panel of students and professors, this year Prof. Dr. Henrik Oster, Prof. Dr. Lars Redecke and Priv.-Doz. Dr. Christina Zechel.

Marlon, who had already defended his work with top marks last summer, convinced the jury with a vivid, highly informative lecture, clear language and differentiated answers in the discussion. According to the jury the presentation was very easy to follow for the audience and yet scientifically accurate.

Congratulations! Very well done!
