14th International Zebrafish Conference in Suzhou, China

The 14th International Zebrafish Conference was held in Suzhou, China, a "small" suburb of Shanghai. This years conference welcomed 1130 participants from all over the world.

Besides many interesting presentations, amazing workshops and great poster sessions, the conference offered a daily meet and greet with the professors of the community and an exhibition area filled with newest imaging technology. While topics presented on the conference were very divers, a focus on drug-screening, techniques and neurological disorders was noticable. I really enjoyed the exchange with the community.
On June 14th a cultural event featured the Soochow Arts Troupe of the Soochow University. They performed several dances and songs as well as stand-up comedy
Finally, the conference committee organized a sight-seeing tour to Tongli, the venice of China. In the centre of this lovely quaint town you can find three bridges: Taiping, Jili and Changqing. Crossing the three bridges is said to bring health, good luck and happiness.

During my poster session I met Ruiqin Hu, a freshly baked Postdoc from the Shanghai Ocean University. She invited me into their institute, where I learned a few tricks in a short time.

I am looking forward to the next International Zebrafish Conference 2020 in Prague!
