Today, all over the world we celebrate the #International Women Day.
International Women's Day is a public holiday in some countries and sadly largely ignored elsewhere. In Berlin, our capital city, the International Women Day is a public holiday since this year.
In some places, it is a day of protest; in others, it is a day that celebrates womanhood.
We are very aware that the situation of women in Germany is like paradise compared to other countries, despite wage differences, unequal workload, glass ceiling and domestic violence.
In other countries, women still have to fight for everyday things, are in general treated unequally, experience very often violence by husbands and families, and have little control over a self-determined lucky life.
We also know that these unfair conditions cannot be easily changed by International Women's Day.
However, we must not stop striving for a fairer world!
A very small contribution to making the world a little more equal is the education of smart female students from structurally poor countries in the hope of helping them on their way to a self-determined and happy life.
