In September, Matthias and I attended the DZHK Retreat 2017 which took place at “Hotel Neptun”, located directly at Baltic Sea in Rostock Warnemünde.
Matthias travelled one day earlier to join the young DZHK retreat which was a great opportunity to get to know other young researches in the field of cardiology. It was packed with interesting talks and poster sessions of pre-selected abstracts (57 of 111). Matthias had the chance to present his work in a 5min poster presentation on shared genetic risk loci of periodontitis and coronary artery disease.
It was very interesting to exchange ideas, methods and discussion with other DZHK members. Also, it was helpful to meet collaborators within the DZHK, and discuss projects, or look for new ideas. The program contains different interesting talks from selected abstracts as well as highly interesting keynote lectures presented by pioneers in the field of cardiology. The focus was meanly on translational medicine.
Beside science we could also chose between three team events: Beach Olympics, GPS Rally and Bike tour. I went for the bike tour.
In general, we enjoyed an interesting meeting at a beautiful place and learned a lot from interesting talks.
