The numbers are getting higher and higher

In an international effort we identified 6 further loci associated with CAD.

Background: Novel genetic loci influence risk of coronary artery disease, but only one-third are associated with conventional cardiovascular risk factors, whereas at least one-half of the loci are associated with other diseases or traits (pleiotropy). Future studies should investigate the mechanisms that relate the observed pleiotropy to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and ischemic events.
