Again, time to say good-bye

Thursday was the last day for Ingrid at the IIEG. After 10 years working with us she will now leave the IIEG and start a new position in Charlottesville, Virginia.
For some of you this might sound familiar - yes, it is the same University where Redouane is working as a PostDoc.
It is not easy to let her go. She worked with us since 2006, at that time as a very young student. She wrapped up candidate gene association results in our very first GWAS to be included in our paper from 2007 published in NEJM.
We were always in contact, first, as a master student and later on as a PhD student. As a PostDoc she established her own NGS working group at the IIEG and now she will prove herself as an independent researcher.
This transition - from a young PostDoc to an independent and sucessful scientist - was made mainly possible through our Leducq consortium "CADgenomics". Here she was embedded in a very productive and inspiring bioinformatics working group.

To say "Good-bye" we organized a barbecue on Thursday.

Ingrid was always an asset for the IIEG - she clearly represented the "Integrative Genomics" part in "Institute for Integrative and Experimental Genomics".

We surely will miss her!
