November 11th is a very special day in Germany, at least in some regions (especially Cologne and Mainz to name a few). On this special day at exactly 11:11 am "carnival" (Karneval or Fasching) starts officially.
In Cologne (actually my home town) this day is full of parties (as can be seen here: Karneval in Köln). The summit of Karneval is "Rosenmontag" which will be celebrated in 2016 on February 8th.
At the IIEG we did not celebrate "carnival" specifically, but we revived our "Wednesday-at-11:00-am-cookie-event" with tons of donuts.
Furthermore, we handed over medals to the IIEG runners that have been provided by the organizer of the "Staffel-Marathon".
Again, congratulation to the IIEG runners!
